10 of us have come together to run the 10k from hell to raise money for Matthew's Friends (www.matthewsfriends.org), a fantastic charity that gives children with epilepsy a chance for a brighter future while providing support to their families.

Our 10k on the 6th of August is not your average fun run, the course in the Lake District, over undulating (read stupidly hilly) terrain, will involve us running through fire and swamps, over hurdles and hay bales, and under water and barbed wire...

What we ask for in return from your wonderful self is a donation. No matter how big or small, we will be incredibly grateful and you will help Matthew's Friends continue their excellent work helping children suffering from epilepsy. Matthew's Friends focuses on providing a specifically designed diet which helps children who suffer from seizures that remain resistant to prescribed drugs. Their aim is to make this diet available to everyone who wants it or needs it if drugs have not worked or they fear the side effects of those drugs (Please don't forget to gift aid your donation, it doesn't cost you a penny more but will allow Matthew's Friends to claim back an extra 28%)

So if you would like to show your support for Matthew's Friends, or motivation for us as family members or friends, or simply would like to see us suffer and embarass ourselves, please make a donation.

Please take a minute to have a look at the Matthew's friends website and see the work they do. In a completely inadequate summary: 1 in 20 people in the UK will suffer from an epileptic seizure, some children suffer from multiple seizures daily - Matthew himself used to suffer 10 to 15 a day, on occasions lasting 1hr 40 mins, he is now seizure free! In 25% of cases children remain completely resistant to medication and continue to suffer seizures (which have a high association with disability, learning and behaviour problems). For these children and their families Matthew's Friends provides hope through the Ketogenic Diet, with reasearch led by Professor J Helen Cross PhD of Great St Ormond Street Hospital, it provides a specifically designed diet plan which can reduce the number of seizures significantly and in many cases completely eliminates epileptic seizures. For more information please visit www.matthewfriends.org.

We thank you for any contribution you can make to support the work of this amazing charity and us as we train and eventually humiliate ourselves for your hard earned pennies....
