Did you know that 1 in 3 people in the UK will develop cancer at some point in their lifetime. It is the silent visitor that creeps into your life when you least expect it and causes mass destruction.
We are a team of "healthy" girls. One of us, at 23 years old, has survived Leukaemia - a cancer of the blood. In fact, we have all survived the life-changing effects of cancer in some way or another, whether it be a close friend or family member.
The devastation is truly inexplicable. Imagine...one day being a healthy and active mother of two young children and the next, being ripped out of bed and onto a hospital ward where unbeknownst to you, you will remain for the next few months. You have now been told "You have CANCER!"....and to make matters even worse, you have been put on the spot and asked "Shall we start a treatment that can (and probably will) lead to infertility, hair loss and only has a 75% chance of success (but is likely to not be cured indefinitely)?"
Now imagine not having that option. Imagine, being told that there is no solution and in fact instead of an offer of treatment, you are given an "end of life" date. That is the reality that a lot of people face when they are diagnosed with Cancer.
It is clear that Cancer is an illness that is here to stay. As such we need to find a way to reduce its devastation. Research into cancer and its treatment and hopeful cure is much needed in order to ensure the longevity of life and health for us all.
Why Team Tango'd? Leukaemia Awareness is represented by the colour orange. Orange....Tango'd...get it? :)
We decided to go for 10K because we think it should be a challenge (we'll all probably collapse in a heap before the finish line). We are trying to raise money, to meet the target to the right --> and would appreciate your donation.
All money goes to Cancer Research to help us to fight and STAND UP TO CANCER! (she wouldn't be here without it)
