Story

The UK Sepsis Trust is on a mission to mend sepsis. One mile at a time.

SEPSIS, also known as blood poisoning, is the reaction to an infection in which the body attacks its own organs and tissues.

Sepsis kills 44,000 people a year and affects 260,000.

EARLIER IDENTIFICATION AND TREATMENT ACROSS THE UK WOULD SAVE

14,000 lives and result in 400,000 fewer days in hospital per year, saving the economy as much as £2.8 billion annually. To do this we need funding and your support.

You'll make a real difference to people affected by sepsis and we’ll be here to support you in your fundraising and help you achieve your goal.

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
