Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
In April of this year I returned home from work to find two teenagers had broken into my neighbour’s back yard and they were causing damage. I chased them away and then called the police to report it.
Since then the two teenagers and some of their friends have regularly been returning to my house and vandalising it. They smashed two windows later that evening and then a few days later a third window. I am unable to prove they did the damage so the police cannot press charges. Some of their friends were also regularly throw stones at the boards that now covered the damaged windows. They went quiet for 10 weeks then – when the schools broke up for summer holidays – they returned. In the early hours of the morning they smashed the glass in my front door and a front window with a brick. In total they have smashed four windows and my front door window since April 2018. I have run out of funds and can’t afford the additional £1,500 to repair the damage. I’ve been reluctant to use GoFundMe as there have been several others in need recently, but circumstances are forcing my hand.
I plan to have the windows repaired and then they will be boarded up for a year. I believe that the teenagers that are vandalising my home will see I no longer live and as the windows are boarded up they won’t be able to smash them anyway!
I hope to raise £1,500 to meet this crisis. It would help towards repairing the windows and boarding them up.
This ongoing vandalism is making me depressed, it is disturbing my sleep and I am frightened to leave my home. Where I live used to be a lovely quiet area but anti-social behaviour is now on the increase.
I have been offered a new job that includes a free flat which I hope will be an exciting new beginning in a new area. Any assistance to effect my repairs will be greatly appreciated.
