Veganishmums Ambulance to Ukraine- Outline of Mission #5

As you will have noticed the war in Ukraine is still ongoing. It is as bad now as it has ever been, with nearly 600 days of war the media coverage is reducing but the plight of our Ukrainian friends remains the same.

Since we started our “Veganishmums Ambulance for Ukraine” campaign you have managed to assist in the supply of :-

Mission 1May 2022. Supply Mercedes Ex Paramedic Rapid Response Ambulance complete with baby incubator and filled with various other medical aid supplied to Global Empowerment Mission in Rzeszow for deployment to Ukraine

Mission 2July 2022. Supply a 2nd Mercedes ambulance filled with medical aid to Global Empowerment Mission Headquarters in Warsaw for deployment to Ukraine

Mission 3November 2022. Using a 7.5t Curtainside Lorry leant to us by T D Tyre Recycling (Carmarthen) we took over 1500 sleeping bags and blankets, mostly new, together with warm clothing, hot water bottles, tents, heaters for the winter.

Mission 4February 2023. “Veganishmums Power To The People”. Utilizing a convoy of empty ambulances being taken across to Ukraine from Manchester we raised funds to buy 25 x portable generators to be distributed by GEM for use in communities where electricity was lost or sporadic.

Mission 5Mission 5 will take a slightly different shape. We are super excited and proud to have teamed up with Outreach Paramedics (OP) from Cornwall. These guys are doing wonderful work in Ukraine made up entirely from UK based paramedics and other healthcare professionals utilizing their annual leave to provide medical aid and training out in Ukraine. As an example of their good work OP recently supplied 2.5t of medical aid, visited 11 fire stations and trained 278 firefighters in prehospital emergency care. Due to the ongoing war it is now commonplace for fire fighters to be used for extricating medical casualties from the frontline, and yet have they have had very little or no medical training. The Ukrainian State fire service has requested ongoing medical training from OP in order to improve their knowledge and skills and in doing so, saving lives.

So….. the plea!!! Following our last mission #4 we were lucky enough to return with funds leftover, as well as being in receipt of a few further donations toward our effort. After careful consideration and undertaking due diligence, we are looking to raise £8000 to enable us to donate to Outreach Paramedics a Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 vehicle to be used to “ferry” UK paramedics to and from Ukraine to continue their good work in training the local firefighters in emergency care and haemorrhage control. Jayne and I will supply the vehicle to Rzeszow or Krakow later in the year where we will meet the UK doctors and paramedics who will fly in and take the vehicle to work in Ukraine.
