Can you help us build a brighter future for local people living with neurological conditions?
This year the Wood team are putting on their metaphorical builders’ hats to help build a bigger neurological care centre. Throughout 2019 we’ll be taking on a range of sporting and fiery challenges to raise funds for Sue Ryder and its Aberdeen-based neurological care centre, Dee View Court.
Dee View Court is currently Scotland’s only purpose-built specialist care centre providing round the clock care for people aged 18-65 living with long-term and degenerative neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Motor Neurone Disease and Huntington's as well as acquired brain injuries such as stroke or spinal injuries. At Dee View Court the expert team of nurses, carers and physiotherapists focus on what a person can do, not what they can’t, to help each resident live as full a life as possible, regardless of their condition.
However as the only purpose-built specialist care centre in Scotland, with just 24 spaces, the waiting list is always full, and demand continues to grow. Right now, in Scotland, there are currently more than 1,000 people living with a neurological condition who are inappropriately placed in care of the elderly homes or living in hospital beds for months or years at a time because there is nowhere else for them to go to receive the specialist care they need.
To reach more people who need their help, Dee View Court desperately needs to expand. Which is why, in 2017, Sue Ryder launched a two year £3.9m Capital Appeal to expand Dee View Court, create a further 20 bedrooms and double its capacity.
An incredible £2.7 million has already been raised, but it’s a big project and they can’t do it alone. Wood is determined to help build a bigger Dee View Court, brick by brick.
One ‘brick’ for the extension = £1,000. Please help Wood help Sue Ryder achieve a bigger Dee View Court by helping us raise as many ‘bricks’ as possible. Our aim is to raise 100 bricks - £100,000 – enough to build two whole new bedrooms.
Please support this local Aberdeen project and help us to support more people in our community.
