Over the weekend of 24th -26th July, a group of brave Travis Perkins staff will be taking over the Lake District, undertaking a unique challenge called “Beat the Moon”. The challenge involves 20 miles of cycling, 9 miles of trekking Scarfell Pike, Canoeing across Wast Water and running for 1 mile to the finish line before the Moon comes up. Monies raised from this event will go to Travis Perkins nominated charities, Action for Children and Mencap. Both charities need your support to continue the vital work that they do.

Action for Children meets the needs of the children and young people who most need support to achieve their full potential. Through our work and through speaking out, we seek to break the cycle of deprivation. We challenge injustice and empower children to overcome the obstacles in their lives that hold them back. We tailor our work to local circumstances, in partnership with children and young people, families, communities and local organisations.

Mencap works with people with a learning disability to change laws and services, challenge prejudice and directly supports thousands of people live their lives as they choose. A learning disability is caused by the way the brain develops before during or after birth and it’s a lifelong condition. 200 babies born each week will face discrimination all of their lives and that is why Mencap is here.
