Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. But the Macmillan Cancer Support team means no-one has to go through it alone. They are there every step of the way, from the nurses and therapists, expert advisers, online resources and community to the campaigners improving cancer care.  

Many of us have been touched by cancer either personally or via someone we love or work with and we know that the journey from diagnosis through treatment can be long, unrelenting and difficult. That's why support of caring professionals is vital. And not just for those going through it themselves but for their families and friends too. It's hard to keep your sense of humour when you're losing all your hair and the medication makes you sick but making jokes and having a laugh helps everyone to cope better. 

I've just gone through that journey myself and fortunately now out the other side having had my first all clear (and my first hair cut!).  Rolfe, SSC President, is going through that journey himself at the moment and  we are keen to give something back to the charity which has helped us both in different ways. There are other members at SSC who have been there, done that, bought the Tshirt too. So please give generously so that this charity can continue its fabulous work. 

I'm delighted to say that we have surpassed our original target by a long way and have raised  £1000 so far with money raised at the event and your generous donations online.  Thank you.
