Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We urgently need your help to keep more families of young cancer patients together this Christmas.
Malcolm Sargent House, CLIC Sargent’s holiday retreat for children and young people with cancer and their families in Prestwick, was struck by lightning twice on the night of Wednesday 10 December 2014 during a storm.
No one was harmed but the severe weather blew one of the house’s chimneys off, causing structural damage and leaving the house unsafe for visitors. The lightning strikes also caused damage to electrical fittings. Consequently, Malcolm Sargent House is now closed.
The families who were staying at the house have been moved
to comfortable and safe accommodation nearby.
What we're doing
We have assessed the damage and now have a plan in place to make repairs during the week starting Monday 15 December, so that we can re-open in time for Christmas, and welcome those families who have booked a stay at Malcolm Sargent House to celebrate Christmas together there.
Being able to stay together over Christmas is so important
to the families we support, so re-opening the house as soon as it is safe to do
so is our number one priority.
