The Sheriffs of the City of London have decided to share everything this year in a spirit of collaboration. We’re a sort of double-act and we take our role very seriously but not ourselves..... often being likened to  Wallace and Gromit meets Laurel and Hardy! 

We are going to ride a tandem bike around our great City and visit all the Livery Halls, Guildhall and the Mansion House and we would really like you to sponsor us. BUT PLEASE DO NOT NOT SPONSOR US FOR MORE THAN £5 - this is really important as we want to break a record for the number of sponsors and not hurt any individual wallets, as you are all so generous to the very many charities that you support. Also if you give us more than £5 the person following you on the website may not donate if they see that you have been so bounteous. What we would really like you to do is pass this on to 10 of your fellow Freemen, Liverymen or friends; there are over 30,000 Liverymen, just imagine if we could get you all to give £5!

Every day at the Bailey we see the tragic consequences of serious crime for both the victims and their families and also for those who are punished and sent to prison – some for more years than they have already lived. We want to raise fund for the Sheriffs' and Recorder's Fund, a charity set up over 200 years ago and that is focused on helping ex-prisoners get a new start in life. It helps to reduce re-offending by making "small, practical and timely grants to ex-offenders on probation in Greater London." Just the other day this was in the form of an Oyster Card so that an ex offender who had managed to get a job offer whilst in prison, had the means to get to work in his first week. We will publish our route nearer the date as we would love to see as many of you as possible on Tuesday 28 July to cheer us on! Andrew will off course be the Captain at the front and Fiona the Stoker at the back and they will be dressed as MAMIL's (Middle Aged Men In Lycra)!
