My name is Simone Coleman

My brother Jamey nicknamed Jay-c was a 24 year old lad who lived for his mates, there was never a dull moment when Jamey was around. He was a kind hearted young man, always up for a laugh, always had a cheeky smile on his face. He would have done anything for anyone. He was a big fan of his music especially hardcore music and attended many raves with his friends.

My brother Jay-c died from a brain injury as a result of a hit and run on the 30th March 2014. He was rushed to the head trauma unit at the QE Hospital in Birmingham, where staff fought to save his life through to the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately he lost his battle for life and was pronounced brain dead. We wanted to donate Jamey's organs to help save another life, but was unable to do so as he had gone into organ failure, Jamey died at 9:30am after a 6 hour battle.

Had Jamey survived his injuries, he would have needed the help from the Headway Charity, as he would have been severely disabled.

Our family lives have been devastated by the loss of Jamey not realising that this could happen to us and not knowing the impact that this has had on my parents so I have set this JustGiving page up so that head trauma survivors can continue to get the help and support needed for themselves and their families at such a traumatic time in their lives.

Headway the brain injury association. Headway Uk relies on voluntary donations to continue to provide vital services to brain injury survivors and their families. Headway UK is independent and impartial. As more people now survive accidents and live with brain injury, the need for our work is growing.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)- If the head recieves a servere blow or jolt, for example in a accident, fall or assult, the brain can be damaged.
