Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Paul (Bob) Morrey was a fanatical motorcyclist and along with myself, was a member of Wolverhampton Advanced Motorcyclists (an affiliation of the Institute of Advanced Motoring). The club have raised moneys for local charities, close to our hearts, for a number of years.
Paul was a wonderful, well-liked man who fought a courageous battle against cancer from the age of 45 and died in 2012 aged just 48. He spent his final month in the care of the team at Compton Hospice, which in my opinion, was the best possible place he could have been, given his unfortunate circumstances. I've always known how wonderful the staff in hospices are but to witness first hand, the unwavering kindness, strength and courage they possess in order to care for terminally ill patients, in addition to the support that they give to the families of the patients, I now know I will be indebted to them forever. Their jobs must be amongst the toughest in the world. Such kind hearted souls but at the same time they are the strongest people you will ever meet. I have nothing but utmost respect for all of the volunteers and staff alike.
Each year, our club organises a memorial ride in memory of its members who are sadly no longer with us. On the 5th October 2014 we will meet at 8.30am at the Food Stop Cafe, Quatt, Bridgnorth and all ride a 150 mile route, to Rhayader in mid Wales, where we'll stop for food and a comfort break. Then we make our way back to the Food Stop at Quatt. The ride is open to all motorcyclists, providing they purchase a ticket for £10.00. The ticket can be redeemed at the Food Stop for a breakfast and the remaining money raised will be donated to Compton Hospice.
Tickets are available now and can be obtained from myself: Jo Morrey 07584 254941 jojomorrey@googlemail.com please donate your money here then contact me for your ticket.
If you cannot make the ride or do not ride a motorcycle, please feel free to donate still, we really would appreciate it.
If you would like to join us for the ride, all we ask is that your bike is legal and you observe the law, speed limits etc.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
