Breaking the habits of a lifetime, I've registered for my first-ever half marathon. I'll be running in my old university city of Southampton on April 24 to raise money for my firm's adopted charity, Shooting Star Chase.

As friends will testify, until recently my donning of lycra running shorts has rivalled the Blood Supermoon as a rare sighting. However, I felt compelled to suit up after visiting SSC in Guildford. This incredible organisation and its superstar staff bring immense practical and emotional support to life-limited children and their families.
