We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

UPDATE - I DID IT!! I completed the swim on Sunday morning in 2 hours 7 minutes, which is so much faster than I was ever expecting. The first half was incredibly tough swimming against the tide, and I had to battle salt water, cramp and really choppy conditions, as well as an entire underwater forest of seaweed, but the second half was much more enjoyable and I even managed to overtake someone in a sprint finish! Thanks for all the donations so far, I'm over the moon with how much I've already raised. And if you haven't already, please do keep them coming in to raise as much as we can for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Thanks!

On Sunday 13th July, I'll be swimming just under 7.5km (4.5 miles) around Brownsea Island in the beautiful surroundings of Poole Harbour. While I've swum long distances in the past, I've never done it in the open water before so this will be a huge challenge for me, especially when surrounded by terrifying things such as jellyfish, sharks and maybe even Nemo.

I'll be raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK, which is the UK's leading dementia research charity. Dementia currently affects 820,000 people in the UK today and there are 163,000 new cases every year, so please help me to help Alzheimer's Research UK discover a cure.

To give you an insight into how Dementia affects people, ARUK have released this website which shows how the disease can affect your memory - http://www.facedementia.org/

Thanks in advance for all your support and for any donations, however big or small, as they will all help me make it round the Island.
