August 1st 2013 - I received an email from my dad explaining that my mum had been having tests to investigate chest pains, and this showed that she'd suffered a minor heart attack. Just over a week later, she was back in hospital having suffered another, and life suddenly got very scary...the thoughts that run through your mind when these things happen are horrible and so hard to process...

Now, anyone that knows my mum will know that she's one tough cookie and she's not one to let life get her down....indeed, she's now well-recovered and back on her beloved golf course, and I'm so incredibly proud of her strength and determination. However, I can't forget that terrifying feeling that I may have had to face losing this wonderful woman, and I know that this is what thousands of people go through every day. 

I want to raise money for British Heart Foundation to support the people who are not so lucky to be able to fight back, to find out what causes these things so we can try to stop others suffering in the future, and to hold the hands of people who have to say goodbye. And, of course, to celebrate the wonderful woman that I'm proud to call my mum. It just so happens that there's a half marathon in my home town on my mum's birthday, so I figured what better time to do it! I'd be so incredibly grateful if you could give even a few pennies to such a worthy cause...and keep my heart beating all the way round!!
