Ricardo, an esteemed engineering consultancy which has been pushing the boundaries of technological innovation for a century, celebrates its 100th year this month.
In order to celebrate these accomplishments , Stan & I are planning to drive some landmarks of automotive history across South East England on 23 July.
These vehicles span a 100-year time frame and have each pushed the industry forwards thanks to Ricardo's engineering prowess. Some of them date as far back as 1909 (some 30 years before my grandparents were born), making this classic car convoy all the more challenging!
Our involvement has been part of a worldwide race relay, whereby a baton has been carried in other vehicles, across many other parts of the world with significant automotive significance. Our leg is the home run finish from Sir Harry Ricardo's birthplace in Bedford Square, London, to the original site, in Shoreham-by-Sea, where he decided to set up his company all these years ago and incidentally remains the firm's headquarters to this day.
