Getting Back on Trek. 

About 8 years ago I found a love for the road and became an athletics coach to share my passion of running with others. I trained consistently and set myself a challenge of running the Brighton Marathon in 2012 and managed to raise over £500 for the children’s charity Wistons Wish. However I also own my own business and 10% of the company’s profit is donated to several charities every year to help unprivileged families and disadvantaged children. They include Circus Star, Hannah’s holiday home appeal, Shine and many more. These charities help families deal with bereavement, terminal illness, prevention of gang crimes and much much more. The money that I raise helps give a new lease of life to those that have suffered some very dark days.

Sadly we all have our own demons and half the time a lot of us suffer in silence. I unfortunately have suffered with depression most of my adult life which has worsened over the last 5 years. This took a toll on my personal life and sadly I lost all interest in running as work became my main focus. The road I took, meant I pushed people away that loved me the most and in turn they suffered too. Thankfully Time To Talk Organisation was at hand in my darkest hour and regular therapy meant that I could understand my feelings better and was able to attempt to open up to the ones that loved and cared for me. This did not however stop me from setting myself a personal challenge to help me physically and mentally whilst still helping others. My new challenge consists of a 7 day trek around the Grand Canyon in aid of ‘Globals Make Some Noise’ Charity.

I still have a way to go but with the support that is being provided and the love that I share with my 3 beautiful girls, I hope to find balance and contentment. With the help of this challenge I can learn to love the outside again and regain control of my life once more. 

I have set the bar to raise £4,000 and I hope that the people that know me, local companies and the community can engage an understanding to help me, whilst I helps others.
