Story
As I hit 50 this year I wanted to set myself a new challenge to mark the occasion. Margaret drew the line at fast cars and fast women so I settled for a brisk walk or three!
We have set ourselves 72 hours to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge but hope to finish in around 60 hours. To achieve our goal 'all' we have to do is climb and descend the 3 highest mountains in the UK - Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, drive the 432 miles in between them and raise our target for our chosen charity.
In total The 3 Peaks Challenge involves walking, running or crawling approx 26 miles with a total ascent of 10,000 feet.
The charity we want to raise funds for is the British Heart Foundation. Both Margaret & I lost parents to heart problems at an early age so we are walking to remember Margaret's Dad, Maurice and my Mum, Sheila, to raise money for a very important charity and, hopefully, because we can.
It's going to be tough. We have previously only climbed MT Snowdon, which was tiring enough plus we got the train back down!
If you would like to support this important charity and sponsor us we would be geuninely appreciative of whatever you can afford. Our target is £1,500 - £500 a mountain - so we have a long way to go, in more ways than one, but with the support of friends, family and colleagues we hope to be able to raise this figure.
Our sincere thanks to anyone who supports us in any way in this Challenge.
Adrian & Margaret Major
