Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Finn Patrick Middleton. I am 6 years old. One day in January 2011 mummy picked me up from school and took me to a huge hospital in Manchester. I had to have a scan which was very noisy and I had to very lie still. After the scan the doctors told my mum I had cancer and then used a really long word that I can’t say...Metastatic Rhabdomyosarcoma... So mummy told me that I had nasty germs growing in my head and that I was going to need lots of magic medicine.

It’s my eye that’s broken you see. It just closed one day. I wasn’t bothered really; I’ve got 2 eyes so I just used the other one. But the doctors said that I needed this magic medicine called chemotherapy to help it get better.

One day I woke up with hair all over my pillow and in my mouth. It was horrible. Mummy and daddy had read a story to tell me all about what was going to happen to me, but I didn’t really listen!  I’d rather read my Dr Seuss stories! Daddy shaved my hair so that it wouldn’t be on my pillow anymore. I didn’t like it at first but now I’ve got loads of cool hats and I’m used to it.

Mummy, Daddy and their friends are planning lots of things to raise money. They are calling it ‘Finn’s fund’. I was very excited because I thought I could buy lots of Lego with it. But mummy said it’s not for Lego, she said that there is a Doctor who wants to make a new medicine that can make kids like me better quicker. Which would be fantastic; because I don’t know when I’ll get better.
