Story

Hi, my name is Simon Storey and I have organised all 3 of the Thinnest, Widest and Longest cycle challenges, I have gone into more detail about the 3 challenges at the bottom of this page. This is the 3rd and final of the 3 challenges and we are cycling from John o Groats to Lands End in 8 days. 920 miles with an average of 115 miles a day.

I am cycling with a great team. On this challenge the team are: Myself, Chris Wade, Struan Marshall,Craig Pattison, Mark Slater, Dave Lakeland, Mike Warren and Kate Vanloo, we will also be supported by 2 support drivers: Barry Cotton and David Jackson.

You will see by the description opposite that the charity do sterling work and I have chosen to raise money for this charity as myself and a few of the other riders have children (I have 3 Daughters) and we all are very lucky in that our children are fit and healthy, but there are thousands of other children and families out there that are not as lucky as us and we would like to help them as they go through what must be the most devastating and difficult of times in their lives. I know I couldn’t imagine the pain and upset caused when you are hit with the news that your child has a life threatening illness but for those that do get that news they must want to do everything in their power to make the time left full of happy memories and if what we do can make that happen then it will all be worth it.

We are looking to raise at least £7200, this is because it costs £900 to send an ill child and a parent to Lapland to see the real Santa. We want to raise enough money to send one child and a parent for each day we are riding and we hope to be identifying a family in the area we are riding for each day.

This will give a child and their family memories to treasure forever and will give the child a welcome distraction from hospital routines and treatment.

If you think what we are doing is awesome, or would like to create ever lasting memories for some families please sponsor us for as much as you can. Please add a comment mentioning the person you are sponsoring so they can keep up to date with who has sponsored them.

I have researched and organised the following rides, mainly for the challenge but also in the process raising money for some worth while charities.

In 2012 myself, Chris Wade, Struan Marshall and Sam Fairclough rode from coast to coast at the Thinnest point of Great Britain, 150 miles in 10 hours and we raised over £600 for Macmillan Cancer Research.

In 2013 myself, Chris Wade, Struan Marshall, Craig Pattison, Peter Satchwell and Chris Taylor with David Jackson as a support driver rode from coast to coast at the Widest point of Great Britain, 409 miles in 4 days with an average speed of 16.2 mph, we raised over £3000 for 3 different Charities, Aspire, Living Streets and Brain Tumour UK.

And this year completes the hatrick with cycling from end to end, the Longest point of Great Britain for When You Wish Upon A Star.
