Trailwalker 2015 · 24 July 2015 to 26 July 2015 ·
Why Trailwalker? - well another one of those seemed-a-good-idea-at-the-time-a-long-long-time-ago-alcoholically-empowered-mid-life-crisis-ego-writing-cheques-body-probably-can't-cash-moments at our annual boy's Christmas lunch - 100km; is that all, pah no worries!
So Da Gudgie Mudgies (gudgie-mudgie - sort of Nepalese for 'its-all-going-pete-tong') was formed to experience (in one case re-experience!) the pain, blisters, fatigue and dehydration of Trailwalker's 100km hopefully so that friends, colleagues, families, occasional acquaintances and complete randoms would revel in our misery and donate wildly to some really worthwhile causes - The Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam.
We also have a little bit of a Gurkha connection and 2015 was to be/now is a wonderful celebration of 200 years of unbelievably loyal & brave service to the British crown by Nepal's Gurkhas and Trailwalker raises funds both for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Unfortunately, but perhaps more poignantly from a fund-raising perspective, this year has also brought devastation to Nepal with two huge earthquakes making the need to raise funds far, far greater.
Any donation would be much appreciated!
The Old Man Running/Walking DGM Team - average age 50!
Garfield Garf Smith - says I was enjoying a fine Christmas lunch when all of a sudden... anyway I used to be a bit more of a hundred metres man myself so this seemed a good step up :(
Guy de Jersey - says I’m principally doing it so I can see Bart in a great deal of pain, it’s how I get my jollies these days. Also I had to pull out at 90K in 2009 due to lack of any training, unfinished business.
Brian Bart Bartaby - says In a last ditch attempt to prove that 50 is the new 30, the Trailwalker 100k seemed a fitting way to see out my 49th year and finally get fit again! 2.5 stone down and counting.
Dom Blakey - says I've rested on the laurels of the Marathon des Sables for 20 years now and I'd like to see if there's life in the old dog and probably trying too hard to impress my kids - I am also looking forward to seeing Barty in a lot of pain!
The Crack Support Team - average age 21!
Penelope, Cosmo, Tallulah & Crumpet - says woof!
