Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September 2014 I had a serious knee injury, which unfortunately meant that I was unable to do any sort of physical activity for the whole season. The times when you lose the ability to do something, is when you appreciate it the most. I really miss being physically active and can't wait to catch up with all the fitness I have lost since the injury. I want to go big! How big? As high as the highest free-standing mountain in the world sounds alright for starters! In September 2015 I will be joining an expedition to climb mountain Kilimanjaro, which stands at 5,895m above the sea level.

The thing I am most excited is that I am doing it for charity!

By doing this Kilimanjaro challenge I want to support the Meningitis Research Foundation, a fantastic charity organisation, which funds research into and raises awareness of both meningitis and septicaemia - two deadly diseases which kill around 1000 people worldwide everyday. 10 people contract meningitis in the UK every day and 1 out of 10 people die from this disease. These are horrible numbers. I believe that I can help Meningitis Research Foundation to free the world from these deadly diseases through raising awareness about this important issue and through generous donations towards my campaign.
