Story
I have set myself the above challenge which includes a number of iconic, not to be repeated, rides for which I have been training since November, come rain wind or (rarely) shine!
Alongside my friends at Weston Homes, who provide fantastic support to the above charity, I also want to add my own small contribution to the funds they raise through their annual charity golf days.
The 4 events I will be participating in are as follows:
1. The Fred Whitton Challenge (10 May): 112 miles around the Lake District arguably one of the hardest one day rides in the UK, encompassing all the Lakeland passes one with a 30% gradient at mile 98! Over 12,500 ft of climbing
2. The Chiltern 100 (31 May): 110 miles across the Chilterns with 21 climbs totalling 9,000 ft.
3. Hemel to Brighton (21 June): This is the 'London to Brighton' ride but extended from 54 miles to 85 miles as I will ride to the start in Clapham adding in another 31 miles. As the start time from Clapham is likely to be 6am this make it a very early start!
4, The Etape (19 July): Probably one of the best known and hardest amateur cycling event, encompassing a stage of the Tour de France which the professionals ride a few days later. There are 3 alpine climbs (13,000 ft) over 85 miles ie 37 miles uphill.
That's it! A number of once in a lifetime events. an opportunity to raise money for a great cause. Any support you can give will I know be very well received.
