We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

An immediate family member - also known as my best mate and my drinking buddy, has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.

Having completed the Great North Run (half marathon) recently for a different charity (thanks again to all who sponsored me, I know who you all are and it is really appreciated), I have decided to take it beyond the next level and take part in an ultra marathon trail run.

I recently took part in a similar endurance event as a personal challenge and managed to get round in one piece (just). On the way round I said never again, but after crossing the finish line on a high and eating a mountain of sausage rolls I agreed that I would take part in an even tougher event at the time of year when most people would want to be in front of the fire keeping toasty warm.

The name of the event says it all - "Frostbite 30" :-). A 35 mile endurance run in December around Nidderdale, according to the latest route plan.

We are hoping to raise a small amount of money for Prostate Cancer UK to contribute towards the great work they do, and raise awareness about the disease which is the most common form of cancer in men in the UK. Needless to say, I will be wearing the iconic "man of men" running top on the day to show my support.

Please see http://www.prostatecanceruk.org for further information.

If you have a few pounds to spare, please consider sponsoring me for this great cause.

If you are interested in the route, please see the following page: - http://www.never-rest.com/the-route.php

Cheers
