Story
On the weekend of the 13 and 14 of September three INRstar
employees and one lucky friend will be taking part in a grueling 30 mile sponsored trek around
Dartmoor National park.
Our efforts will all be in aid of a Cornish charity local to INRstar office, ShelterBox UK based at Helston. Shelterbox UK specialise in providing emergency relief to people made homeless by disasters, see their story here
What and who’s involved?
The team, made up of Hannah Smith, Sally MacDonald, Emily Whetter and James Essen, will be competing in the Dartmoor Challenge.
As part of the challenge we will be hauling a loaded ShelterBox across the moor in order to raise funds for a worthy cause. Like the other teams taking part we will also compete for points over a variable course where navigation, tactical decision making and teamwork will count as much as speed and endurance.
Stand out team
Having successfully summited Kilimanjaro earlier in the year, Hannah may have an advantage. Unlike that earlier challenge, she will have to endure carrying her own kit as there won't be a Sherpa in sight :(
Finally a big thank you goes to Sally, who has stepped in at the last minute to fill a space. However, being a bit of a fitness junkie Sally will probably find it the easiest of all! A late team replacemant took place with Emily ( a good friend of Sally's) standing in for James Hardy.
Pushing for improvement
As well as wanting to do well and raise a lot of money for charity, there is also some internal rivalry. A previous Team INRstar completed the event in 2012 and won the 'Corporate' category, so the challenge is on for the 2014 team.
