Updates: 

On 26 April I ran the London Marathon in a Giant Saguaro cactus costume and broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest plant to run a marathon, with a time of 3h 47m (and 55 seconds). 

On 2 May, I ran a 100 mile race, the Thames Path 100, in a time of 23h 20m.

I have just two more marathons to run in May...

Why I'm running for LLR:

This year will be the 10-year anniversary since my dad, Terry, passed away from  Lymphoma, and I will once again be donning a costume for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research for this year's London Marathon. The charity is dedicated to improving the lives of patients with all types of blood cancer, including lymphoma, leukaemia and myeloma.

My dad was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2004, after months of tests. The tumour wrapped around his spine, leaving him paralysed, before the doctors could make a successful diagnosis and begin treatment to shrink the tumour. It was too late to save the use of his legs, but with cutting edge treatments, created with the help of scientists funded by Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, the tumour shrank and the cancer went into remission, to the point where he was being prepared for discharge from hospital after 6 months of treatment. Sadly, that week he deteriorated rapidly, and passed away in June 2005. I'm hoping you can donate to this charity to help scientists work towards new treatments and diagnostic tools for blood cancers, a disease that can affect people of all ages.

• £25 can help us understand why a patient does not respond to the best available treatment, so we can develop new therapies.
  
• £50 can help us use stem cells to understand the cause of blood cancer, so that for many people we prevent blood cancer altogether.
  
• £100 can support a PhD student for one day to conduct vital research. Supporting PhD students ensures the future of cutting edge UK cancer research.

My marathon place was through the public ballot, and since the charity has not paid for my place, all donations will be poured back into vital research. Please add gift aid if applicable.
