Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Sandra’s mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2006 and the condition steadily worsened such that she is now in a care home.

There was no local support for sufferers or their family so Sandra got a group established here in Orkney in 2011.

One of the aims of the group is to raise funds for the charity, Parkinson’s UK, and they have held a variety of events.

My trek round the British coastline will hopefully raise both awareness and funds to support the charity.

I will be starting on 30 March 2013 from Withernsea on the East Yorks coast, heading north, walking anti-clockwise.

My aim is to complete the walk in one go, with just occasional short rest breaks. The distance will be in excess of 6,000 miles and should take me 14-15 months to complete.
