Story

A few words from us both:

'Last December Emma and I were sat having a spot of tea, when (like crazy people) we decided that we were going to set ourselves a challenge for 2014... After much discussion we decided upon the New York Marathon, and now 8 months later, flights booked, hotel booked, trainers bought and achy legs, the 2nd of November seems to be creeping upon us pretty quickly... A little too quickly actually! YIKES! We also decided that we wanted to run the marathon for a charity, and one that stood out to us (and certainly means a lot to me) is Macmillan. This charity is very close to my heart for a number of reasons; three to be particular... My Grandma -Enid Parker; an incredible lady who sadly I never had the chance to meet, Sue Markham; one of the most inspirational women I have ever met and George Haworth; a very special and courageous little boy. I am very aware that Macmillan has made the battle against cancer a little easier, whether that was for my Grandma or is for Sue and George, or for their SUPER special families surrounding them. The network of support given is something that I know has transformed their lives. I won’t get too emotional, but every time I have to push myself out of bed at 6am to get my run in for that day, I just think of the money that will be raised, to help people like my grandma, sue or George through their battle. So, please dig deep and sponsor Emma and me to get through this hellish task and raise lots of spondoolies for the most fabulous cause! Thank you thank you THANK YOU! Love you all! Grace xx'

'When Grace and I decided that we wanted to do a challenge, New York marathon seemed like the only option. I was thinking yay New York, forgetting that I would actually have to run a marathon and at that point I couldn't even run a mile! Months of training later and there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I'm even a little bit excited about putting my body through the hardest challenge I've ever (maybe will ever) do! Certainly not as excited as I am for the day after though! When Grace and I spoke about which charity to support Macmillan stood out to us both. Everyone at some point is affected by cancer either themselves or a loved one and the work that Macmillan do helps so many people through the struggle. Please dig deep and sponsor us to take on one of the biggest challenges we'll ever do. We appreciate it so much. Thank you, Em xxx'
