East Anglian Air Ambulance provides advanced critical care 24/7 to the most seriously ill and injured people in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire by air and road. Each tasking costs on average £4,250 and, with no regular government funding, we rely almost entirely on public support.

Story

Hi and thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

I am lucky enough to be running the London Marathon this year through the ballot entry system as a member of Ely Runners and I have chosen to raise sponsorship to support local two local charities. I am raising money for both the East Anglian Air Ambulance (this page) and Magpas (www.justgiving.com/emilyknight_magpas).

The EAAA operates two helicopters; Anglia One covers Norfolk and Suffolk, while Anglia Two serves Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire and is a regular fixture at Marshall Airport, Cambridge where I work. The helicopters carry Magpas Emergency Teams who provide the life-saving skills.

On average the EAAA is called to four incidents a day, such as road traffic accidents, incidents involving people in inaccessible places and cardiac arrests. Because of the advanced skills, drugs and equipment found on board, and being able to access places impossible for a land ambulance, the EAAA can really make the difference.

To keep the two air ambulances flying and to provide the advanced medical equipment on board, over £3 million per year has to be raised.

Both charities are supported entirely by voluntary donations so are very worthy causes and need our continued support.

My training has been going pretty much to plan so far (big thanks to Ely Runners for the support) and I am getting plenty of miles in my legs. I'm not sure I'll be able to manage a sprint finish but I'm really looking forward the challenge of 26.2 miles!

So, please dig deep and visit my other page if you would also like to donate in aid of Magpas.

Thanks!

Emily
