Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Graham's son Toby has been diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) - a rare genetic disorder that affects mainly boys aged 4 to 10.
The consultant has told his family that the disease is too far advanced in his brain for him to receive any treatment, and at present there isn't a cure for ALD and death usually occurs within a few years.
Toby's older brother had to undergo tests for the disorder, which was a difficult time for Graham and his family, and it was discovered that at some point in the past ( probably around age 5), he too began to develop ALD but the process spontaneously arrested. In the words of his consultant, "We dearly wish we understood why this happens since it may contain the secret of how to stop Adrenoleukodystrophy progressing in other affected boys - without resort to complicated and dangerous therapies such as bone marrow transplantation or gene therapy"
We are raising money for ALD Life to help fund research into this terrible disease, and to give hope for all the young boys affected.
